Top News Sources

 Top News Sources

1. TikTok

One of the easiest and most frequent places I get my news and information is TikTok. Whether it’s from accounts I already follow or random videos that pop up on my For You page, TikTok keeps me updated and exposes me to a variety of different topics. The platform also gives influencers and everyday users a space to share their opinions, thoughts, and reactions. I like that TikTok can bring attention to important issues and spread awareness, while the algorithm also recommends content based on my interests and what I usually interact with.

2. Instagram

Instagram is a great source of information because it is fast, easy to use, and convenient, much like other social media platforms. I mainly use Instagram to stay updated on world news, sports news, and upcoming movies. I follow accounts such as ESPN and other news outlets to keep up with major events, sports updates, and current trends. One of the reasons I enjoy Instagram is because its algorithm recommends content that matches my interests, making it easy to find information I care about. However, like many social media platforms, Instagram can sometimes spread misinformation, so it is important to verify information through reliable sources. Overall, I would recommend Instagram as a useful way to stay informed about current events and sports, as long as users take the time to fact-check what they see.

3. X

X is one of the main platforms I use to stay informed about current events and trending topics. I check it daily to see what people are talking about and to keep up with developments around the world. In addition to general news, I follow updates related to sports, politics, and technology. When I come across a topic that interests me, I usually look for more information from other sources to learn more about it. I also make a point to verify where articles and posts are getting their information so I can determine whether they are reliable. Overall, I think X is a useful tool for discovering information and following topics that interest you, but it is important to fact-check what you see since misinformation can spread quickly on social media.

Supreme Court Reflection

Supreme Court Reflection

The Supreme Court is the most powerful on earth.

After watching this video about the U.S. Supreme Court, I came away with a better understanding of how important the Court is and how much work takes place behind the scenes.

One thing I did not know before was that petitions arrive at the Supreme Court by the thousands. I was surprised to learn just how many cases people want the Court to review. It gave me a new appreciation for the amount of responsibility placed on the justices.

The video also reminded me that there are nine justices on the Supreme Court. Even though the Court is relatively small, it remains one of the most powerful judicial bodies in the country. Over the years, more than 100 justices have served on the Court, each helping shape important legal decisions.

The most important takeaway for me was the role the Supreme Court plays in limiting government power. The Court has the authority to tell the President, Congress, and state governments what they may and may not do under the Constitution. That responsibility makes the Court a powerful check on the other branches of government.

I was also interested to learn some of the Court's early history. In 1801, the Supreme Court was given temporary quarters, showing that the institution had much humbler beginnings than I expected. The video also discussed how the Court struck down an act of Congress as unconstitutional, demonstrating the Court's authority to interpret the Constitution and review government actions.

The most surprising thing I learned was that the justices often continue their work without drawing much public attention. As the video suggested, after a few years many people may forget the Court is there, yet the justices continue making decisions that can have a lasting impact on the country.

Overall, the video changed the way I think about the Supreme Court. Before watching, I mainly thought of it as a group of judges deciding legal cases. Now, I see it as an institution that quietly but significantly influences how the government operates and how laws are applied throughout the United States.
